If Any of You Lacks Wisdom, You Should Ask God

“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” Colossians 1:9-14 NLT

When we are given the wisdom and knowledge of God's will, then we will have the power to live a life worthy of the Lord. Ask and you shall receive. (Matthew 7:7). Pray and ask for wisdom to understand His will and purpose for you. Whether it is for your entire life or for that day or moment, the Lord will guide you to that understanding. All you need to do is ask!

Every morning I ask God to be my hands and feet today. To be my eyes and ears. To break my heart for what breaks His and to make me passionate about what makes Him passionate. I have really noticed a difference in the way I approach things when I ask God for this guidance and wisdom of how to spend my day. Every day is not as impactful as the day before, but as I consistently ask for this, the Lord is working on the long term goal for my life and my heart.

When we are given this knowledge we are able to please God in every way, live a life worthy of His calling, grow in the knowledge of the Lord, and be able to give thanks in everything. Notice it doesn't say you need to do all of these things on your own, the Bible says that through the Spirit is the way that we can achieve these things.

In return, God gives us wisdom, understanding, the ability to bear fruit in His good works, strength with all power, endurance, patience, a shared inheritance with God's children in the kingdom of Heaven, freedom from evil, redemption, and forgiveness.

That is quite a list for someone as imperfect as me! The Lord loves you and me the same and He wants to shower us with His blessings.  We just need to let the Spirit do His work inside of us and not keep holding on to the old part of our flesh that wants to pursue worldly passions and desires.

Admit your weaknesses to God. he already knows them, but He just wants us to come out and say it. A lot like He had Adam come forward in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:8-10). Recognizing that we need help and that we need God's wisdom is how we can move forward, bear the fruit of the Spirit, and be equipped to effectively utilize the armor of God.
